What a great week!

It has been an interesting week filled with possibilities! On Wednesday I was part of the Creative Connections event that was organized by YES Montreal. They invited 31 artists and 14 local businesses to connect and share information. Every artist was required to introduce themselves with  an elevator pitch which was very scary but also very useful because this is a skill we don;t get to practice enough. We were all very nervous but I think everyone did an amazing job! I was very happy to be in the first group and even happier not to be the first to have to go up there :) After introducing ourselves every artist was paired with three businesses, we had 10 minutes to present ourselves and our work to them. I was paired with a publisher, a gallery and an art boutique which was really awesome! I had some great chats and I think some of them might lead to business opportunities in the future. Afterwards there was free networking where even more business people were present. It was really an awesome event! I met so many great artists and have already exchanged loads of useful information with several of them. It is super nice to have some new likeminded people in my network! :)

Since I had to go to downtown for the Creative Connections event I treated myself to a trip to the Fine Art Museum to see the Peter Doig exhibit, a beautiful show definitely worth seeing! I loved the interesting mix between figurative and abstract and the way Doig uses his materials is creates very interesting shapes and textures. Most of his pieces are large so stepping into the exhibit spaces is quite overwhelming. This is a show where you definitely want to take some time with each piece to really enjoy all that is happening on the canvas.

I also got the news that I have been accepted to be part of an upcoming RAW Artist Showcase. RAW:natural born artists is an independent arts organization, for artists, by artists. They're an international community made up of creative individuals across the globe. Their mission is to provide independent artists within the first 10 years of their career with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity. They welcome all genres of art including independent film, fashion, music, visual art, performing art, hairstylists, makeup artists and more. They encourage the creative success of the many visionaries and storytellers of our generation. RAW currently operates in nearly 60 cities across the United States, Australia, Canada and, now London!

The Showcase, which is titled ‘Spectrum’ will take place on April 24th 2014 from 7-11:30 PM at the Rialto Theater in Montreal. Tickets will be $15, I will have a limited amount of tickets available so if you are interested in attending let me know. What can you expect when attending a RAW Showcase? You'll experience an independent film (usually a short, webisode or music video), a fashion show from an up-and-coming local designer, a musical performance, an art gallery featuring several independent visual artists and photographers, and performance art (comedy/dance/fire dancers, you name it...). You'll get a little taste of everything. Combine all this creativity with drinks, fun, and good company!

And of course my new Vlog is out today! In this second episode of Creative Ramblings I’ll show you how to work with pouring medium. You can check it out at the bottom of this page!
